The awards keep coming for Palm Springs Water! After winning the American Water Works Association State Award for the “Best Tasting Drinking Water in Florida” in April of this year, Palm Springs went on for the first time ever to the Association’s National Competition at San Diego, California in June, coming in 4th in the Nation!

Now Palm Springs has done it again! This month the Florida Rural Water Association, based in Tallahassee, Florida, held their Annual Conference and Competition in Daytona. Palm Springs came in again as the clear winner with the “Best Water in Florida”. By winning this competition, Palm Springs Water is automatically entered in the National Rural Water Association Competition to take place in Washington, D.C. in April 2010.

A representative from the Florida Rural Water Association will be coming to the Village Council Meeting on September 24, 2009, to present an award plaque to the Village Council and our Utilities Department Director, Bill Davis. Then it’s on to Washington, D.C. for Palm Springs Water!

The list keeps growing of reasons we can call Palm Springs “A Great Place to Call Home” and now the "Best Tasting Water" possibly anywhere!

Summer is around the corner, which means door-to-door salespeople are preparing to sweep through neighborhoods!

Handle all door-to-door salespersons with caution. These salespersons may be working for a legitimate company and possess the proper identification, but please confirm their standing with the company by calling the business.

Something as simple as allowing a stranger to use the phone or bathroom, or for a drink of water, can lead to loss of your personal property. Never discuss your work schedule or times of the day when no one is at home. Never discuss valuables that you may have in your home, or that you are home alone. This can lead to your home being burglarized or theft of your personal property.

Please call your local law enforcement agency to report any suspicious persons soliciting in your area. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

In addition the personnel of our Public Safety Department were required to comply with all CFA standards (over 250). The CFA assessment team, made up of law enforcement professionals from around the state, was very impressed with our Public Safety Department. In the final report from the assessors to the Commission the Department was complimented on its professionalism and skilled management.

The Village of Palm Springs Utilities Department has just received the Award for “Best Tasting Drinking Water” in the State Competition held in Tallahassee, Florida, and hosted by the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association. The Village Utilities Department, which recently won the Region 6 Competition for the second time in two years, faced tough competition from twelve other regional winners in Florida; but ultimately won the honor to now represent the State of Florida at the National “Best of the Best” Competition, which will take place on June 15, 2009, at the 128th Annual American Water Works Association and Exposition Conference in San Diego, California.

Another reason we can call Palm Springs “A Great Place to Call Home” and now the Best Tasting Water in the State of Florida!

Beware of Door-to-Door Salespeople
Summer is around the corner, which means door-to-door salespeople are preparing to sweep through neighborhoods!

Handle all door-to-door salespersons with caution. These salespersons may be working for a legitimate company and possess the proper identification, but please confirm their standing with the company by calling the business.

Something as simple as allowing a stranger to use the phone or bathroom, or for a drink of water, can lead to loss of your personal property. Never discuss your work schedule or times of the day when no one is at home. Never discuss valuables that you may have in your home, or that you are home alone. This can lead to your home being burglarized or theft of your personal property.

Please call your local law enforcement agency to report any suspicious persons soliciting in your area. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Spend the day decorating the sidewalks of the municipal campus, Saturday April 4th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Friends of the Library will provide the chalk, so all you need to bring is talent and willingness to spend the day drawing on the sidewalk between the Library Reading Garden and the Village Hall Fountain. the Florida Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) awarded the Palm Springs Public Safety Department full law enforcement accreditation. This award was received after an exhaustive assessment of our policies, procedures, personnel and facilities. The two year process included a re-writing of the Department’s policies and procedures. In addition the personnel of our Public Safety Department were required to comply with all CFA standards (over 250). The CFA assessment team, made up of law enforcement professionals from around the state, was very impressed with our Public Safety Department. In the final report from the assessors to the Commission the Department was complimented on its professionalism and skilled management.
